Olivier Messiaen's monumental Turangalîla-Symphonie is a hymn to joy and love in all their facets, inspired by the Tristan myth. Messiaen creates his magical soundscapes with an extraordinary orchestra apparatus, which includes an imposing percussion section as well as electronic sounds, and a highly virtuosic piano part, performed here by Cédric. The Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Simone Young, performs this piece.
